How to Convert HEIC to JPG (iPhone Photos): 4 Easy Ways

← Blog · Updated 8 October 2026

If your iPhone photo will not open on a computer, a website or a form, it is probably a HEIC file. Here are four ways to turn it into a JPG.

1. Convert online in your browser

The fastest way. Open HEIC to JPG, select your photos (up to 30), and download the JPG files. The format is detected automatically, and your photos are not uploaded, because the work happens on your device.

2. Save new photos as JPG on your iPhone

Go to Settings, then Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible. From now on, new photos are saved as JPG. Photos you already took stay as HEIC, so you will still need the first method for those.

3. Let your iPhone convert when you transfer

In Settings, Photos, the option Transfer to Mac or PC can be set to Automatic. When you connect your iPhone to a computer, it then converts photos to a compatible format.

4. Open HEIC on Windows

Windows may need an extension from the Microsoft Store to show HEIC photos. This lets you view them, but a form or website may still refuse the file, so converting to JPG is the safer fix.

Which method should you use?

For a few photos you already have, use method 1. To avoid the problem in future, use method 2.

Questions

Will converting lose quality?

JPG is lossy, but at high quality the difference is hard to see for normal use.
