Why compress a photo straight from the camera?
Phone photos are often several megabytes, while many online forms accept only 50 KB to 200 KB. The usual way is slow: take a photo in the camera app, which saves a big file in your gallery, pick it, compress it, and then delete both copies. Here the photo goes from the camera to the compressor directly, so you keep only the small file you decide to download.
How to take a photo and compress it
- Press Take photos and allow camera access.
- Take one photo, or several (up to 30). Tap the cross on a thumbnail to remove a photo you do not want.
- Press Done. Your photos are ready in the compressor.
- Choose a target size such as 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB, or a percentage smaller. Choose JPG or WebP.
- Press Compress Image, then Download. With several photos you can press Download all (ZIP).
Where do the photos go?
They stay in your browser's memory while you work. They are not uploaded to a server and they are not saved to your phone gallery. A file is saved on your device only when you press Download. If your browser cannot open a live camera, the button falls back to your device's own camera app, which may keep its own copy in the gallery.
Common target sizes
- Compress to 50 KB for small uploads and signatures.
- Compress to 100 KB for many application forms.
- Compress to 200 KB when a form needs a little more detail.
- Compress to 500 KBCompress Photo from Camera for clearer photos that still upload quickly.
Always check the limit on the form you are filling in, and pick a size slightly below it.
Tips for a good result
- Take the photo in good light. Clean, sharp photos compress better.
- Fill the frame with your subject so no pixels are wasted on empty background.
- If the result looks soft, choose a larger target size.
- Need a PDF instead? Use Camera to PDF or Image to PDF.
Questions
Is the photo saved to my phone?
Not by this page. Photos taken with the in-page camera stay in your browser memory. A file is saved only when you press Download.
Can I take several photos and compress them together?
Yes. Take up to 30 photos, press Done, and compress them all to the same size. Then download them one by one or as a ZIP.
Does it work on iPhone, Android and computers?
Yes. It works in current versions of Safari and Chrome and other modern browsers. On a computer it uses your webcam.
Why does it need camera permission?
A website must ask before it can use your camera. The image is processed on your device and is not uploaded.
What if the live camera does not open?
The button then opens your device camera app instead, or you can choose a photo from your gallery using Select images.
How small can I make a photo?
You can choose a target such as 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB or 1 MB, or enter your own size in KB.
Is it free?
Yes, with no login and no daily limit.
